ABOUT MIA

MIA EHRLICH is a 22-year-old DIRECTOR based in New York City. A recent early graduate of NYU TISCH'S DRAMA BFA, Mia spends her days developing new work alongside her friends and collaborators and her nights seeing new pieces of theatre. In between, it's mostly subway rides spent playing Pokémon. As a director, it's the details within a piece that Mia believes matter most. She's gotta catch em' all.

THEATRE

Mia began her theatrical journey in MARYLAND until her senior year of high school when she was accepted to NYU'S TISCH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS where she studied Musical Theatre in the NEW STUDIO ON BROADWAY. During her  sophomore year, she took a Shakespeare class where she fell in love all over again-- not with the art of performing, but with THE ART OF CREATING. She then spent her two remaining years learning all she could about directing and theatre (and all of their intricacies). She took directing classes, writing classes, and a myriad of courses that scratched her intellectual itch. Mia believes that the more you can learn off the stage, the more you can put on the stage.

FILM

After two years studying Musical Theatre, Mia decided to enroll at STONESTREET STUDIOS where she learned about film conception, production, and post-production. Here, she became fluent in FINAL DRAFT, FINAL CUT PRO X, and ADOBE PREMIERE PRO. During her time at Stonestreet, she wrote, produced, and directed a large portfolio of projects, ranging from minute-long shorts to TV show pilots. After 2 semesters, Mia decided to keep her creative momentum going and pursue minors in FILM PRODUCTION and CREATIVE WRITING. Through her film minor, she took classes focusing on SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT and DIRECTING THE ACTOR. Mia is currently working on a 20 minute film version of THE 1000 YEAR OLD MAN, a musical conceived and written by Daniel Seligman and Mia Ehrlich.

WRITING

Mia's love for writing first came to her through WRITING ESSAYS-- her teachers always noted her theatrical flare. She began writing scripts her sophomore year of college, where she quickly discovered how much her directorial instincts interacted with her conceptual instincts-- she realized her experience examining behavior informed the way she could write stories. She declared a CREATIVE WRITING MINOR and spent a month participating in WRITERS IN NEW YORK, a month-long writing intensive taught by authors of all varieties, where she developed a collection of SHORT STORIES, POEMSSONGS, and PLAYS (some of which attracting hundreds of thousands of readers online). She began writing short FILM SCRIPTS not long after, quickly followed by TV SHOW PILOTS and SITCOM SPEC SCRIPTS.
